Over time, some of our Anglican churches near you, have become chapels, each have a historical significance in their geographic community. Each has played a role in the development and sustaining of faith in their communities since their inception. Their histories are outlined in the book History of the Church in Clarendon by The Venerable W. H. Naylor, M.A., who was the Archdeacon of Clarendon. Archdeacon Naylor is buried in the Village Cemetery, Shawville Qc.
If you are interested, there is a great deal of historical information available about each chapel. Chapels are church communities that for a variety of reasons can no longer sustain a regular Sunday worship and full time clergy.
Our parish has nine (9) chapels and cemeteries located throughout the parish. These are maintained by a local Steward. Also, a cemetery fund along with the generous donations of those who attend the memorial services maintain the cemeteries in perpetuity.
Our chapel communities are well regarded in their communities. Many continue ministry work. Our chapel communities worship at varying times during the year. Some worship monthly while others maintain a service in the warmer months.
